THANJAVUR: The 68th Thirukalyana Mahotsavam was held at Sri Alarmel Manga Samedha Srinivasa Perumal temple at Kalayanapuram near Thanjavur on Tuesday. Hundreds of people witnessed the celestial wedding which went on for three hours. Srinivasa Perumal was taken in a procession for Kasi Yatra. Exchange of garlands took place beween the Lord and Goddess Alarmelmanga with palanquin bearers and archakas with garlands dancing to the tunes of mellifluous nadaswaram by Pinnaimanahar brothers K. M. Dakshinamurthy and K. M. Uthirapathy. According to R.Aaravamudachariyar, president of the celebration committee, and R. Srinivasan, treasurer, the Thirukalyana Utsavam is on for five days from January 25. Music concerts are held on all evenings. A. K. C. Natarajan, clarinet maestro, who was conferred the title of Sangeetha Kalanithi by Music Academy would be felicitated by A. M. Venkatesa Prasad, Senior Regional Manager of Indian Overseas Bank, at the temple on January 29, Aravamudachariyar said.
