TN teams in semifinals
ANGAMALY: Tamil Nadu men and women were forced to slog before entering the semifinals of the 11th National youth volleyball championship at the St. John’s School Ground here on Tuesday night.
Defending champion Tamil Nadu edged out a fighting Karnataka 25-19, 13-25, 26-28, 25-15, 15-12 in the men’s section while its women bounced back brilliantly after losing the first two sets to shock the holder, West Bengal.
In the semifinals on Friday, Tamil Nadu men will meet UP while its women will play Himachal Pradesh.
The results (quarterfinals):
Men: Tamil Nadu bt Karnataka 25-19, 13-25, 26-28, 25-15, 15-12; Uttar Pradesh bt Goa 25-23, 25-17, 30-28.
Women: Tamil Nadu bt West Bengal 23-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-15, 15-7; Himachal Pradesh bt Andhra Pradesh 25-10, 25-13, 15-25, 25-9. — Principal Correspondent
