Assistance given to folk artistes

Madurai: A total of 579 artistes have been enrolled as members in Tamil Nadu Folk Artistes Welfare Board. According to the

Assistant Director (Madurai Region) of Department of Art and Culture, a total of 1,627 artistes have been enrolled across the State.

A slew of schemes has been announced for the registered artistes. A total of Rs. 16,000 is given towards educational and marriage assistance.

Chequess handed over

The cheques were handed over to the artistes by Collector P. Seetharaman at the Republic Day celebrations on Monday.
