Prostitution racket smashed; two held
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: An international prostitution racket has been smashed by the South Delhi police with the arrest of an alleged pimp and his Uzbek wife.
The police received a complaint from a woman from Turkmenistan alleging that Rajnish Sharma, a resident of Dwarka, tried to push her into the flesh trade. They mounted a raid last month and arrested his wife Umidda Devanova, an Uzbek national. Subsequently Rajnish was arrested on January 16.
The police said they have now launched a hunt for his accomplice, Intizor, another Uzbek national.
During interrogation, Umidda purportedly disclosed that the accused was running a prostitution racket.
