Free polio surgical correction camp

MAHABUBNAGAR: To make surgical corrections to polio victims, a free polio surgical correction camp is being organised by the district administration for 6 days with the collaboration of BIRDS hospital at Tirupati and local SVS hospital. The camp was started here on Thursday.

On the occasion, Minister for Rural Development G. Chinna Reddy said that to provide equal opportunities to the physically-challenged persons on par with others, the government is organising free polio surgical camps. He said that callipers would be distributed free of cost.

Dr. Jagadishwar of BIRDS hospital said that so far 4.5 lakh persons were treated since 1985. He said major operations will be done at BIRDS Tirupati.

Mr. Jagadishwar informed that BIRDS hospital is providing free food, accommodation and Railway concession passes etc.
