Maoist couple arrested

VIZIANAGARAM: CPI (Maoist) couple, Biddika Paintho (30) and his wife Biddika Parvathi (20) were arrested at Yankiyang in Arunachal Pradesh where they were eking out a living as daily wage earners after deserting the party in July last year. While Paintho, a native of Valasaballeru in Kurupam mandal, was a commandant of Kondabaridi Area Committee, Srikakulam Division and Biddika Parvathi alias Padma, a native of Paridhi village in Morrum panchayat in Rayagada district (Orissa), was also a commandant of the same dalam.
They both were married in 2004.
Formalities
Following information, a police team visited Yankiyang and arrested them with the help of Army personnel and local police on January 22. They were brought here on Thursday after completing formalities before a Magistrate there, said Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh Mann in a release.
Paintho was an offender in a series of 17 cases, including Peddintijola landmine blast in 2003 in which constable Suryanarayana was killed and another injured, besides killing of Manikyeswara Rao, a Greyhound constable, RTC bus burning case, etc since he was released in 2001.
Paintho and Parvathi carry rewards of Rs.3 lakhs and Rs.2 lakhs respectively on their heads.
