BJP seeks inquiry into government land deals

BJP urges Governor to order a judicial inquiry into government’s land acquisitions, allotments
HYDERABAD: State BJP has urged Governor N.D. Tiwari to order a judicial inquiry into government’s “illegal” land acquisitions, allotments and land leases.
A BJP delegation led by State president, Bandaru Dattatreya submitted a memorandum to the Governor accusing the government of forcibly acquiring lands in the name of townships, SEZs and projects. The delegation wanted the Governor to scrap all land acquisition notifications, including that of Uppal issued during the last four-and-half years and return the lands to farmers.
The memorandum sought 30 to 40 per cent share to farmers in developed townships or projects. It wanted CBI report on the changes in alignment of Outer Ring road to be made public.
It also alleged that the government was allotting valuable lands to “the near and dear” of ministers, MPs, MLAs and Congress leaders at cheaper rates. The government also invented a new source of income to the exchequer by auctioning precious lands.
