Taralabalu Hunnime Utsav from tomorrow

To debate on ‘Religion is not the reason for terrorism’


Pandal put up on MBA College premises

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa to take part in festival


DAVANGERE: Taralabalu Hunnime Utsav, an annual cultural festival of Taralabalu Math, will be held in Davangere from February 1.

A pandal has been put up on the MBA College premises for the nine-day cultural festival.

Scientists, writers, students, educationists, social thinkers and political leaders and Chief Minister B.S. Yeddurappa will take part in the utsav.

T.K. Alex, Director of ISRO Satellite Centre, Mylswamy Annadurai, Project Director of Chandrayaan, A. Bhaskaranarayana, scientific secretary of ISRO, and S.K. Shivkumar, director of ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network, will participate in an interaction programme on Chandrayaan-1 on February 3 to be held as part of the utsav.

A debate is organised for PU students on “Religion is not the reason for terrorism” on February 2.

Writer M. Chidanandamurthy, G.K. Govindarao and K.B. Siddaiah will take part in a debate on “Conversion and social wellbeing” on February 3 while writers D. Javare Gowda, Siddalingaiah and Ranjan Darga will participate in a discussion on development of Kannada language on February 4.

Farmer leaders K.S. Puttannaiah, Kodihalli Chandrashekar and D.K. Chouta will take part in a discussion on “Government responsibility in the welfare of farmers” on February 5.

Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, Gudihalli Nagaraju and Shashidhar Bhatt will talk on “Mass communication and social responsibility” on February 6.

On February 7, a debate is organised for students of professional colleges again on “Religion is not the reason for terrorism”.

Y.S.V. Datta, B.L. Shankar and Y.A. Narayanaswamy will take part in a discussion on “Religion and politics” on February 8.

K.R. Jayadevappa, president of the Hunnime Utsav Committee, S.S. Mallikarjun, general secretary, told presspersons here on Friday that seating arrangements for over one lakh people had been made.

The utsav, being organised in Davangere after 25 years, is not only a cultural festival but also a forum to discuss current national topics and problems.

The Chief Minister and many of his Cabinet colleagues will participate in the programme on February 9.
