Against time-honoured tradition: Karunanidhi
|
CHENNAI: Politicising the death of Muthukumar, who committed self-immolation, is not only against the time-honoured tradition, but will also lead to belittling the cause of Sri Lankan Tamils, Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi said on Saturday.
In a statement here, Mr. Karunanidhi said that those who understood him knew how he was affected by the death of the youth.
Mr. Karunanidhi also recalled Finance Minister K.Anbazhagan’s advice against such acts and the solatium announced by Local Administration Minister M.K.Stalin to the family of Muthukumar.
“But, the family has refused to accept the Rs.2 lakh solatium. Moreover, stones were thrown at DMK MLA V.S. Babu, who went to pay homage to Muthukumar,” he said and regretted that the death was being politicised.
