“Terrorism trying to take root in State”

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Terrorism is trying to take root in the State by “exploiting” the prevailing situation and should be nipped in the bud, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.V.Thangkabalu alleged here on Saturday.

Some political parties and extremist organisations, under the pretext of supporting “suffering Tamils” in Sri Lanka, were indulging in violent activities, including burning of portraits of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and cutting party flag poles. Apart from preventing such activities, the State government should detain the miscreants under the National Security Act.
