Initiatives to popularise cycling
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: At a time when space for cyclists has shrunk in the burgeoning traffic, experts and cycling enthusiasts, determined to bring back cycles on Bangalore’s roads, on Saturday deliberated on ways and means of popularising cycling and other issues.
At the “Bangalore Cycling Initiative Workshop” organised here by Bangalore Metropolitan Land Transport Authority (BMLTA), in association with EMBARQ, I-CE, City Connect and Ride A Cycle Foundation, renowned urban planners placed cycling initiatives taken up in other cities.
While Sujit Patwardhan spoke about the experience in Pune, Pradeep Sachdeva detailed the work taken up at Nanded under Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
The workshop took note of developments in other cities, and the position of cycling in Bangalore in comparison with other cities. B.V. Pradeep outlined the cycling initiatives in Bangalore. The workshop was organised to prepare an action plan.
