KALPETTA: All India Kisan Sabha general secretary K. Varadarajan has said that the charter of demands of the two-day national seminar on ‘Global Financial Crisis and Indian Peasantry’ organised by the All India Kisan Saba (AIKS) and the All India Agricultural Workers Union (AIAWU) here recently will be handed over to the Central and State governments soon. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr. Varadarajan said that if the response of the governments to the charter was negative, a nation-wide agitation would be launched under the aegis of the AIKS and the AIAWU. The 18-point charter of demands seeks measures to ensure price stability for the produce of farmers, minimum wages for workers, low-interest farm credit, a Central debt relief commission and national-level land reforms. Mr. Varadarajan said that the allegations against Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan in the SNC Lavalin case were politically motivated.
