President Rajendra Prasad, inaugurating the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore on February 2, paid warm tributes to the forethought and wisdom of the late J.N. Tata, founder of the Institute, and the House of Tatas, in establishing and fostering the growth of the institution, the premier institution of its kind in the country. As Visitor of the Institute, the President announced, on the occasion, his approval of the conferment of Honorary Fellowships of the Institute on Prime Minister Nehru, Dr. C.V. Raman and Dr. M. Visvesvaraya.
