Srimati Indira Gandhi was declared elected President of the Indian National Congress in New Delhi on February 2. Announcing this, the Returning Officer, Mr. Sadiq Ali, said that “Srimati Indira Gandhi will be President of the Congress for the remaining period of the term of office of Mr. U. N. Debar, the out-going President.”
