dated February 3, 1959: Space projects

President Eisenhower said in Washington on February 2 that the United States had an “impressive” record in space projects. The report, compiled under the direction of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, covered the year since the United States placed its first Satellite in orbit a year ago. The report itself said: “The past year has seen notable progress in the space effort of the United States.”
