Honeymoon over: Fiza and Chand Mohammad in happier times not so long ago:

CHANDIGARH: In yet another twist in the bizarre saga of “romance” between former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chand Mohammed aka Chander Mohan and his second wife Fiza aka Anuradha Bali, the latter on Monday for the first time publicly accused the former of cheating her and playing with her sentiments.

She also asked him to come forward and clear the “status” of their marriage.

Talking to media persons at her residence in Sector 48 adjoining Mohali, she said she had not heard further from her husband who went “missing” from her house on the morning of January 28.

Obviously “perturbed” by the interview of Mr. Chander Mohan, the elder son of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, telecast by some TV channels from Gurgaon that he loved and missed his first wife Seema and his two children, Ms. Fiza alleged that she even feared for her life as she was receiving “threats”.

Ms. Fiza, a former Assistant Advocate-General in the Haryana Government, had alleged on January 28 that her husband had been kidnapped at the behest of his younger brother Kuldeep Bishnoi, president of Haryana Janhit Congress. However, this was denied by Mr. Chander Mohan who went on record as saying he had gone to Delhi on his own after duly informing his second wife. Ms. Fiza had later consumed sleeping pills “by mistake” and was hospitalised.

The Mohali police have registered a case of attempt to suicide against her and are investigating.

It may be recalled that Mr. Chander Mohan had left his house in Sector 8 of Panchkula on Diwali day and disappeared. He had resurfaced in December 2008 along with Ms. Bali and announced that they had married after converting to Islam. Immediately he was dismissed from the Haryana Cabinet.

Ms. Fiza on Monday read out SMS messages purportedly sent to her by Mr. Chand Mohammed during their romantic interlude and pleading with her to marry him. Getting emotional, she asserted that she would remain a Muslim now and carry out the fight for justice against her “Chand”.
