People’s Panchayat on Homophobia
HYDERABAD: Society for Integrated Developmental in Urban and Rural Areas (SIDUR) is holding a panel discussion on stigma, harassment and a general aversion and phobia towards transgenders and persons with same sex leanings at International Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ICADR), Gaganvihar complex on Friday.
The panel discussion ‘People’s Panchayat’ will have five eminent jurists including sitting judge of A.P. High Court D.S.R. Varma, doctors, lawyers and members from transgender community. They will be discussing a host of issues including police harassment of gay community members in the panel discussion. “Issues like stigma and homophobia needs to be addressed. says SIDUR Executive Secretary of T.J.P.S. Vardhan.
