Parallel college body flays government

MALAPPURAM: The Parallel College Association has criticised the government for spending public money for rich students and neglecting the parallel education stream in the State.

The sixth State conference of the association concluded here on Thursday making a clarion call for justice for lakhs of students studying in parallel colleges in the State.

A large number of parallel college students and teachers took part in a rally taken out here on Thursday. M. Ummer, MLA, inaugurated a public meeting that followed the rally.

District panchayat president Arimbra Mohammed inaugurated the State-level distribution of scholarships instituted by the association for indigent students in the parallel sector.

Shekharan Athanikkal, State president, presided over the function. K.N. Radhakrishnan, State general secretary; A. Prabhakaran, State patron; K. Balakrishnan; Vinod Bharatan; Jabir Anakkayam; and T.K. Shajid Babu addressed the gathering.
