Slowdown affected land sale: YSR
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy admitted that the economic slowdown had badly affected sale of government lands in the State.
Reacting to the vote-on-account budget, Dr. Reddy said the government intended to mobilise revenue to the tune of Rs. 12,000 crore through sale of lands across the State. “Unfortunately, we could raise only Rs. 4,000 crore,” he added. He also pointed out Rs. 16,500 crore had been for the ambitious Jalayagnam in the State but the expenditure so far was Rs. 10,000 crore. A sum of Rs. 6,500 crore remained to be spent, he said, adding that the irrigation outlay for 2009-10 had been pegged at Rs. 14,500 crore.
