Mysore: Socialist and founder of Gopala Gowda Shantaveri Memorial Hospital, Dr. H.C. Vishnumurthy (66) passed away here on Thursday following a cardiac arrest. He is survived by his two sons. Dr. Vishnumurthy was the founder-Trustee and Managing Director of GGSM Hospital Trust and was a close associate of socialists of his generation. He was influenced by Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and Shanthaveri Gopalagowda and was closely associated with litterateurs including, P. Lankesh, U.R. Ananthamurthy and Devanoor Mahadeva. He was conferred with Dr. B.C. Roy award instituted by the Indian Medical Association in 2006.
