APSHCL detects alleged fraud in Indiramma

Rs. 77.97 lakh paid towards 373 non-existing houses Third party survey conducted based on specific complaints
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation Limited (APSHCL) on Wednesday detected an alleged fraud involving payment of Rs. 77.97 lakh to 373 non-existing houses under the Indiramma Housing Scheme at Nagarkurnool in Mahabubnagar district.
The APSHCL Managing Director R. Subrahmnayam, in a letter to the Mahabubnagar District Collector, stated that a third party survey was conducted into the fraud in the execution of Indiramma Housing Phase II based on specific complaints.
Payment of Rs. 77.97 lakh towards 373 non-existing houses apart, Rs. 4.71 lakh were paid to 28 old houses.
Prima facie evidence was found against Nagarkurnool mandal MIC, B. Maheshwar Reddy and T. Pandu and B. Venkat Reddy of Nagarkurnool PACS, he said. Meanwhile, the Minister for Housing B. Satyanarayana in a press release, informed that instructions were passed onto to suspend all those officers involved in the fraud. A special team of senior officials from Hyderabad would be sent to investigate into the fraud.
