Protest against ‘saffronisation’ of education continues
Special Correspondent
Bangalore: For the second day, a large number of young men, including students of several Bangalore-based colleges, were lathi-charged by the police when they attempted to barge into the Central College campus to distribute pamphlets expressing their resentment over what they saw as “saffronisation” of education.
They wanted to give the pamphlets to officials of the Education Department.
Among those arrested and later freed on bail were the working president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, D.K. Shivakumar, and Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee chief Krishna Byre Gowda.
