Vajpayee’s condition stable

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is showing signs of improvement, according to a bulletin issued by the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday.

AIIMS Medical Superintendent D. K. Sharma said: “Mr. Vajpayee is not having fever and his lower respiratory track infection is much better. His condition is stable and he is showing signs of improvement.”

He added that Mr. Vajpayee’s liver and kidney function tests were normal.

Senior BJP leader L. K. Advani and party president Rajnath Singh called on Mr. Vajpayee on Thursday.

Corrections and Clarifications

The second paragraph of a report "Vajpayee's condition stable" (February 6, 2009) said that former Prime Minister Vajpayee's lower respiratory track infection is much better. It should have been lower respiratory tract. (The lower respiratory tract consists of the lower part of the respiratory system.)
