Maytas responds on metro rail

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Maytas Infra Limited, the main partner in the consortium that has been awarded the Rs. 12,132 crore Metro Rail Project in Hyderabad, has assured the government that efforts were on to secure financial closure for the project by March 17 as stipulated in the agreement.

This was conveyed in a letter by Maytas Infra chief B. Teja Raju, son of beleagured Satyam ex-chairman B. Ramalinga Raju, in response to a communication by the government seeking to know whether the company was in a position to achieve financial closure as agreed earlier.

C. V. S. K. Sarma, Chairman of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, when contacted, declined to elaborate on the contents of the letter.

All he would say was that the government was hopeful that the consortium would achieve the financial closure. He said survey work was on for construction of depots and stations.
