Bajaj to focus more on value segment

Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI: Bajaj Auto has launched XCD 135 DTS-Si, a new sports motorcycle in Chennai. Launching the vehicle, S. Manoj Kumar, Regional Manager, Tamil Nadu, said that inspired from the Bajaj Pulsar DTS-I model, the bike looks and drives like a Pulsar-Junior. It is the first of three launches in the value segment. The company already has a strong position in the entry and the premium segment of the motorcycle market.

The launch of 135cc in the mid-segment would further boost two wheeler sales of the company, Mr. Manoj said. Monthly average sales of 8,500 vehicles of the company in the entry and premium segment would increase by about 2,500 units through the marketing of the XCD 135 series. The company plans to introduce two more variants in the value segment before the end of this year. More focus on the value segment would also enable the company to enhance its market share, Mr. Manoj said.
