Parul Sharma

NEW DELHI: The former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, 84, continued to be on a mechanical ventilator at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here for the second day on Saturday.

“His condition has neither improved nor deteriorated. He continues to be on the ventilator. All his parameters like blood pressure, liver and kidney function tests are normal,” said medical superintendent D.K. Sharma.

The veteran BJP leader was recently admitted to AIIMS with complaints of fever and chest congestion.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh conveyed his best wishes for the speedy recovery of his predecessor.

Dr. Singh’s Principal Secretary T.K.A. Nair visited AIIMS and presented a bouquet of flowers on behalf of the Prime Minister.

Earlier, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee visited AIIMS to enquire about Mr. Vajpayee’s health.
