Somayagam to be conducted at Aluva

Special Correspondent

KOCHI: Vedic rituals and yaga tradition will come alive at Aluva where Somayagam is to be held from April 25 to 30.

The yagam is being organised by Viswa Brahmana Manch, Akhila Kerala Vaidika Suraksha Samiti and Sharma Charitable Trust.

Yagas are believed to bring goodness, prosperity and peace to all, the animate and the inanimate.

It focuses on selfless acts that connect oneself with the universe.

The yagasala will be constructed according to Vedic norms. It will be consigned to flames on the final day of the yagam.

One hundred and twenty Vedic scholars will perform the rituals which span all the four Vedas of Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva.

‘Somarasa’ of the ‘Soma’ herb that grows in the high altitudes of the Himalayas will be the main offering.

The energy released from the yaga sala purifies the atmosphere and fills the environment as well as people’s minds with positive energy, according to the organisers.

The yajamanan will be Kavumpuram Chomancherri Mana Vasudevan Namboodiri, Ottapalam.
