Translation workshop

MYSORE: JSS Mahavidyapeetha, in association with Central Sahitya Academy, has organised a weeklong “Kannada-Marathi Translation Workshop”. The workshop which was inaugurated on Sunday will go on till February 13. Over 30 Kannada short stories will be translated into Marathi during the workshop. Krishnamurthy Hanur, convener of the workshop, said that the workshop had been organised to introduce Marathi readers to Kannada short stories.

A volume of the translated works will be published later. Translators including R.K. Nayak, Uma Kulkarni, Meena Wangikar, Meghana Kulkarni, Ashok Amminabhavi, Sandhya Deshpande, Vinod Gaikwad, Chandrakanth Waghmare, Revathi V. Katti and K.N. Deshpande would participate in the workshop, he said.A poetry reading session will be held on Monday and a documentary on the lives of Marathi and Kannada writers will be screened on Tuesday.
