MP calls for action against attackers

ERODE: Congress Member of Parliament from Palani S.K. Kharventhan has urged the Tamil Nadu Government to initiate stringent action against those responsible for attacking the party’s workers and establishments.

On Sunday he along with Congress Member of Legislative Assembly from Kangayam Vidiyal S. Sekar staged a demonstration in Kangayam urging the State Government to act.

He said in the recent past there had been a spate of attacks across Tamil Nadu on the party’s workers and establishments. Congress flag had been burnt and MLAs and MPs threatened. Recalling the attacks on the houses of Congress MLA Gnanasekaran, party leader Sudarsanam and his, Mr. Kharventhan said the party workers were deeply hurt by both the attacks and the Government’s inaction.

The attackers had even threatened Union Minister of State for Textiles E.V.K.S. Elangovan, he said and wanted those responsible for attacks behind bars.
