BHUBANESWAR: The 16th and last session of the 13th Assembly, which is scheduled to begin here on Monday, is likely to be stormy as the Congress-led Opposition was ready to criticise the Biju Janata Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party Government for its failure on various fronts.

According to sources in the Congress, the Opposition parties will take attack the government blaming Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in attending scores of official functions to woo the electorate ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.

Further, the government was also likely to be criticised by legislators belonging to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on various issues as the party’s relationship with its partner Biju Janata Dal was deteriorating fast.

The session will begin with the address by Governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare.

The six-day session, which was scheduled to end on Saturday, will witness the presentation of the Vote-on-Account by Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai on Thursday.

Vedankta varsity bill

The Vedanta University Bill would also be taken up for discussion in the Assembly.

Tight security arrangements have been made in and around the Assembly Building premises to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident during the session.

Director General of Police Manmohan Praharaj visited the Assembly building on Sunday afternoon to oversee the security arrangements.

The sprawling Mahatma Gandhi Marg outside the Assembly was also likely to witness several demonstrations and rallies by various organisations and government employees during the session.

More number of demonstrations were on the cards this time round because it would be the last session before the coming Assembly polls.
