SANGAREDDY: CPI (M) Rajya Sabha member P Madhu on Sunday said that efforts were on by the Left parties to form a third alternative in national politics as the condition of both the ruling Congress party and opposition BJP was pitiful. Speaking to reporters here after participating in several programmes, Mr. Madhu said that at state-level the CPUI (M) has been preparing to contest in 54 Assembly and six Lok Sabha seats and the proposal was already submitted to the “Grand AllianceReferring to the Abhaya Hastham, a scheme launched by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to provide pension and insurance to SHG members, Mr. Madhu said that formation of grand alliance forced the Congress party to launch such new schemes. “The ruling party is fearing with the formation of Grand Alliance. That is one of the reasons to launch this scheme. But these schemes will not save that party. Defeat of the Congress party is certain,” he said. On the vote on account budget introduced by the government in the Assembly last week, he said that the non-plan expenditure was much higher than plan expenditure which shows the fate of the state. He also pointed out that income through value added tax (VAT) going multi-fold presents how the people in the state were being taxed by the government. CPI (M) leaders Chukka Ramulu and B Mallesam were present.
