ANANTAPUR: Lack of matching departmental funds has left about 1,250 works proposed by the District Planning Committee with the Backward Regions Grant Funds in 2007-08 ungrounded. As a result, Rs. 2.7 crore BRG funds allocated to the district for the year remained unutilised. This was informed to the members of DPC at a meeting held here on Sunday evening. Chairman of the DPC and Zilla Parishad Chairperson T. Kavitha and District Collector V. Anil Kumar urged the DPC members to give fresh proposals to avail the unutilised funds. In all, 995 kitchen sheds in schools, 90 health sub-centre buildings, 10 rural veterinary clinic buildings, 19 rural water supply overhead tanks and 30 mandal samakhya buildings of Indira Kranti Patham were proposed with 2007-08 BRG funds with proportionate matching funds from the departments concerned. Priority would be given to those works that were taken up with departmental funds and were left incomplete due to insufficient departmental funds.
