Arrested for murder
The city police arrested a person on Sunday in connection with the murder of Antony Livingston Babu (34) at Chinniampalayam late Saturday night.
According to police, Antony and his friends were consuming alcohol at a bar at Chinniampalayam. He had a quarrel with one of them named Anand. The quarrel worsened into fisticuff. The other friends separated the two and sent them home.
Anand was alleged to have hacked Antony on the head with an aruval when the latter was walking near the Chinniampalayam bus stop. Antony died on the spot. On seeing the body, the public informed the police and investigations into the happenings on Saturday night led to the arrest of Anand.
