ATM inaugurated at Kumbakonam

KUMBAKONAM: An Automated Teller Machine of Punjab National Bank was inaugurated at Kumbakonam by S. Balasubramanian, Commissioner of Kumbakonam Municipality, recently.

S. M. Veerappan, Circle Head of Punjab National Bank, presided over the function, said a press release issued here on Sunday.

He said that the one at Kumbakonam was the 18th ATM in Tiruchi circle and there were 2,000 ATMs of the bank across the country. He said that PNB would be opening more ATMs in all important centres.

The bank will be shortly opening ATMs in Rajapalayam, Palani, Mayiladuturai etc. It will also open two new branches in Hosur and Thiruchengode shortly along with ATMs.

PNB’s debit card can be used in the ATMs of many other banks such as State Bank of India, KVB, Indian Bank, etc., with whom the bank has agency arrangements. PNB debit card can also be used in over 40,000 Merchant Banking establishments (points of sales) across India.

PNB has networked all its branches across India and has 4,875 service outlets in 2,557 centres. It offers instant transfer of funds across all banks using RTGs and NEFT facilities in all its branches.

Gopalakrishnan, Town Planning Officer, appreciated the bank for helping self-help groups and sanctioning loans at four per cent interest rate to residents of Sembodai area.

The bank circle consists of 66 branches spread over 23 districts with a total business of Rs. 3,000 crore. The bank has lent about Rs. 175 crore to agriculturists and Rs. 525 crore to MSMEs.

The bank gives top priority to agriculture. As per Government policy, crop loans are being given at seven per cent. Jewel loans can also be availed at 11 per cent for agri purposes. Loans are also being given to loan waiver and loan relief borrowers on a priority basis. Recently, the bank has reduced its PLR to 11.5 per cent, which will benefit all types of borrowers.
