Chennai: Indian Bank ended its St. Joseph’s-CFA senior division season with a 1-0 win over AGORC in a riveting game on Sunday. Midfielder Fredy converted a 69th-minute penalty, which Indian Bank won when striker David was brought down as he attempted to turn away from AGORC centre half Lakshmanan in the box. With the win, Indian Bank took its points tally to 22. The outcome of the game was rather more important for AGORC, which now stares relegation in the eye with only eight points from 10 games. Its only remaining game is against title favourite Nethaji FC. AGORC was perhaps a tad unlucky with the result, for it dominated an open, end-to-end first half, coming close on a couple of occasions, and desperately close once. Within five minutes from kick-off, Indian Bank keeper Nidhinlal threw the ball straight at AGORC striker P. Muthu. Muthu — later adjudged Man-of-the-Match — lobbed the keeper, but the ball bounced off the upright and back into the backtracking Nidhinlal’s relieved hands. In the first division, Vijayakumar’s goal gave TNEB a 1-0 win over Chennai City Police. The game between Rangoon FC and Universal RC ended 1-1, with goals from David Anand and Ashok Prabhu. — Sports Reporter
