Sandeep, Raksha emerge the best

BANGALORE: S. Sandeep (13 points) of DRR Govt. Polytechnic, Davangere and Raksha (15 points) of Nitte Rukmani Adyanthaya Memorial Polytechnic, Udupi, were adjudged individual champions in the men’s and women’s sections in the Directorate of Technical Education and Acharya Polytechnic-organised 32nd State level inter-polytechnic sports meet, here.

Nitte Rukmani Adyanthaya Memorial Polytechnic (51 points) was declared overall group champion, while winning the women’s overall championship and the athletics team title for women.

The men’s athletic title was claimed by S.N.M Polytechnic, Moodbidri and the overall men’s championship by Karnataka Govt. Polytechnic, Mangalore.

KV, Bishop Cotton win

Kendriya Vidyalaya (DRDO) and Bishop Cotton Girls HS won the inter-school basketball tournament held here during the weekend. KV defeated St. Joseph’s Boys HS 43-20 in the boys’ final, while BCG HS beat Mary Immaculate School 38-14 for the girls’ title.

‘Mr. Bangalore 2009’

The Bangalore District Body Building and Fitness Association will conduct ‘Mr. Bangalore 2009’ championship at Town Hall in Bangalore on March.2.

Those who belong to clubs and gyms affiliated to the State Association are eligible to participate in the meet.

The selection trials for the Bangalore District team for the State championship will also be held along the meet.

Youth volleyball

Uttar Kannada District Volleyball Association will conduct the south zone youth volleyball championship for boys and girls at Agragona (Gokarna, Uttar Kannada District)) from February 17 to 21.
