New Delhi: Retired employees of Indian Airlines on Tuesday staged a protest in the Capital, demanding wage arrears, better medical facilities and extension of pension benefits. The ‘All-India Airlines Retired Personnel Association’ accused the Civil Aviation Ministry of depriving them of basic post-retirement benefits and not applying the recommendations of the Centre-appointed Mohan Committee to look into their pay structure. Revised“The committee recommended that the salary of public sector employees should be revised from January 1, 1997. Five public sector undertakings come under the charge of Civil Aviation ministry. Wages of employees of all others were revised and payments made to serving as well as retired employees except Indian Airlines Ltd employees till date,” the press statement by the association said. “We demand the ministry end this discriminatory approach and pay our arrears with due effect from January 1, 1997,” the statement said.- PTI
