Uthappa to lead

Bangalore: Robin Uthappa will lead a relatively young Karnataka team with veteran Sunil Joshi lending some valuable experience as the squad gears up for the South Zone inter-State limited-overs tournament for K.S. Subbiah Pillai Trophy at Visakhapatnam from February 15 to 23.

The team: Robin Uthappa (captain), C.M. Gautam, Manish Pandey, Ganesh Satish, Deepak Chougule, Raju Bhatkal, B. Akhil, Sunil Joshi, K.P. Appanna, S. Aravind, A Mithun , Amit Verma, Udit Patel, Devraj Patil and Sunil Raju. Coach: Vijay Bharadwaj.

Maggi, Latif shine

Farhan Maggi’s unbeaten 75 and Abdul Latif’s five-wicket haul helped St. Joseph’s Indian High School (SJIHS) defeat Vijaya HS by 173 runs in a B.T. Ramaiah Shield under-14 tournament match here recently.

The scores: SJIHS 245 for four in 45 overs (Farhan Maggi 75 n.o., Anirudh Chakaravarthy 52) bt Vijaya HS 72 in 21.4 overs (Abdul Latif five for 36).

Clarence Public School 105 in 26.5 overs (Eshwar 52) lost to JIRS 106 for four in 31.1 overs (Chaitanya 53 n.o.).

Holy Saint English School 220 for nine in 45 overs (M. Nitin 59, Rakesh 54 n.o.) bt Sudarshan Vidyamandir 207 in 41 overs.

Bishop Cottons Boy’s School 321 in 45 overs (Rishab 68, Harish 48) bt Bangalore HSS 90 in 22.2 overs.

Presidency School, Nandini Layout 121 in 31.5 overs (Kunal five for 18) lost to SJBHS 122 for seven in 39.5 overs.

Seshadripuram Boy’s School 36 in 13.1 overs (Mujahid four for 21) lost to Parachute Regiment School 40 for no loss in 3.1 overs.

National HS 292 for eight in 45 overs (Ajmal 53 n.o., Manjunath 49, Amogh Nag 49, Sharath 46) bt Bangalore HSS 123 in 32 overs (Jayanth 43, Pawan four for 30).

Gurumurthy hits 134

Gurumurthy’s 134 and M.K. Girish’s five for 53 spell guided Johnson CC to a 107-run victory over South End CC in a KSCA Group I, fifth division league match here recently.

The scores: Johnson CC 289 for seven in 50 overs (Gurumurthy 134, B. Jeevan 56, Prashanth 56, Madhusudan four for 57) bt South End CC 182 in 41.3 overs (Badriprasad 62, M.K. Girish five for 53).

City Gymkhana 347 for six in 50 overs (Manish 103 n.o., Rohit 81, Raghavendra 54, N. Dilip 44) bt Victory CC 196 in 30.3 overs (Mukundan 44).

Huttons CC 74 in 25 overs (Ramesh four for 23) lost to Bowlers CC 75 for six in 18.2 overs.

T20 tournament
