DAE pact with Russian TVEL for uranium
Mumbai: The Department of Atomic Energy on Wednesday signed a contract with TVEL, a joint stock company of the Russian Federation, for long-term supply of 2000 tonnes of natural Uranium pellets to India.
These natural Uranium pellets will be for India’s Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors, to be placed under civil domain of the IAEA safeguards.
The two have also signed another contract for about 60 tonnes of Low Enriched Uranium pellets for Boiling Water Reactors at Tarapur, operated by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India limited.The contract was signed by TVEL President Y Olenin with DAE Director of Purchase and Stores H. C. Soni in Mumbai. — PTI
