Sathyabama beats JMC

HYDERABAD: Satyabhama College, Chennai recorded an 80-48 win over Jamal Mohammad College in the league phase of the Rev. Fr. Baliah memorial all-India inter-college basketball tournament organised by Loyola Academy at its premises here on Wednesday.

Edwin P. Jerry (31) and G. Pantua (19) combined well to come up with the big points as Sathyabama remained unbeaten along with SRM University and Loyola College (Chennai).

The scores: Sathyabama College, Chennai 80 (Edwin P. Jerry 31, G. Pantua 19) bt Jamal Mohammed College 48.

SRM University 75 (K. Natraj 18, Praveen Kumar 14) bt Bishop Heber College of Tiruchi 59 (G. Ganapathy Raman 15).

Loyola College, Chennai 54 (M. Gobi 13, Sreenivasan 10) bt Malla Reddy Engineering College 37 (Maneesh 12, Ajay Yadav 15).

SKR Engineering College 57 (P. Mohan Kumar 16, K. Udhaya Kumar 11) bt Loyola Academy, Hyderabad, 27.

Satyabhama 87 (Ram Kumar 26, Bopanna 18) bt Loyola Academy, Hyd, 25 (Uday kumar 12).

GHMC volleyball

The GHMC South Zone volleyball championship will be held at Moghalpura Playground from February 19 to 21. Golkonda Hotel recorded a thrilling two-run win over Belson Taj in the Inter-hotels cricket tournament here.

The scores: Golkonda Hotel 57 bt Belson Taj 55; ITC Kakatiya 111 for nine lost to Ellaa Suites 114 for three (Kiran 52 not out).

Brilliant Open chess

Brilliant Chess Academy will organise 33rd Brilliant Trophy State open chess championship on February 14 and 15 on its premises with a prize money of Rs. 10,000.
