Sanjeev bowls South to victory

Chennai: Sanjeev took four wickets for 21 runs to help host South beat Central by six wickets in the all-India Ordnance Factories inter-zone Twenty20 cricket tournament here on Wednesday.

West beat East by 73 runs in another encounter.

Mr. S. Chandrasekhar, IOFS, Additional DG/AV Member OFB, inaugurated the tournament.

The scores:

Central 140 for seven (H. Hirwani 26, Shridhar 36 n.o., Sanjeev four for 21) lost to South 141 for four in 16.1 overs (Umapathi 29, Jaya Prakash 24 n.o.).

West 159 for six (R.R. Adsuie 66, J. Tandel 74 n.o.), Hamant Singh three for 29) bt East 86 for seven (Sanjay Suryawams three for 15).

Vidya Mandir ‘A’ posts win

Vidya Mandir SSS ‘A’ beat Modern SSS by five wickets in a quarterfinal match of the TNCA city schools under-14 tournament for the B. Somasundaram Trophy here on Tuesday.

The scores:

Don Bosco ‘A’ 123 in 44.3 overs (Harwin Ramoj 32, N. Niranjan three for 39, R.V. Rajayan three for 21, M.S. Suraj four for 21) lost to PSSS 128 for two in 21.4 overs (M. Adithyan 59, Akash Sivam 38).

Santhome ‘A’ 148 in 44.1 overs (V. Vignesh 42, G. Yogaraj 36, J. Vishnu three for 22) lost to PSBB ‘A’ (K.K. Nagar) 149 for eight in 47.2 overs (M. Ashwath 46, V. Aditya 28, N.Vignesh three for 23).

St. Bede’s ‘A’ 221 in 49.1 overs (V. Dhanush Kumar 51, K. Dhileepan 63, Rahul Kamath four for 48) bt St. John’s ES 92 in 43.4 overs (Geet Puri 37, V. Dhanush Kumar three for 14, M. Shahrukh Khan three for 14).

Modern 200 for eight in 50 overs (K.B.Dixit 56, P. Krishnan 47) lost to Vidya Mandir ‘A’ 201 for five in 46.4 overs (Anirudh Raghavan 78 n.o., Aravind 38).

Hindu SSS in last four

Hindu SSS (Adyar) moved into the semifinal of the P.C. Sekhar memorial (under-14) cricket tournament with a four-wicket victory over Jawahar Vidyalaya on Wednesday.

The scores: Quarterfinal:

Jawahar Vidyalaya 87 in 27.3 overs (Raghav Viswanathan 34) lost to Hindu SSS (Adyar) 88 for six in 26.4 overs (Rohan 35).

Earlier result: PSBB (T.P. Road) 97 in 25.5 overs (R. Vishal 36, Nihal Ibrahim three for 19) lost to Hindu SSS (Adyar) 101 for three in 24.4 overs (V. Ramakrishnan 39).
