Start train between Guntakal and Hospet, urges ZRUCC

Staff Correspondent

Bellary: South Western Railway Zone General Manager Kuldeep Chaturvedi said on Thursday that he would place before the Railway Board the demands for better rail facilities, including introduction of new trains in Bellary-Hospet region. Mr. Chaturvedi was responding to the memorandum submitted by Babulal Jain, Member of the Zonal Rail Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC), at the Hospet Railway Station.

Mr. Jain, in the memorandum, urged the General Manager to introduce new through train services between Chennai and Mumbai via Bellary, Hospet, Koppal; and also between Mumbai and Bellary via Solapur, Bijapur Gadag, Bellary.

He recalled that Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav had announced that Garib Rath will be run between Hospet and Patna. Mr. Jain urged Mr. Chaturvedi to take steps to introduce the train to run on Hospet-Hubli-Miraj-Pune-Daund-Itarsi-Bhopal-Jansi-Kanpur-Lucknow-Varanasi-Patna.

Mr. Jain demanded introduction of an inter-city daily train between Guntakal and Hubli (leaving Guntakal at 9 a.m. to reach Hubli at 2 p.m. and on return journey, to leave Hubli at 6 p.m. to reach Guntakal at 11.30 p.m.) to enable the office-goers and labourers of several industries surrounding Bellary, Hospet and Koppal to commute easily.

Mr. Jain suggested diverting of Chennai-Vasco da Gama Express (7311/7312) and Chennai-Hubli Express (7313/7314) trains from Chennai via Renigunta-Guntaka-Bellary-Hospet-Koppal-Gadag. He said the matter was pending before the Indian Railway Time Table Committee (IRTTC).

He underlined the need to delink Hampi Express train (6591/6592) from Nanded-Bangalore (6593 /6594). The Hampi Express can run as a full-fledged train while train nos. 6593/6594 can run separately between Nanded and Bangalore.

Similarly, Haripriya Express (7416 / 7415) should be delinked from Rayalseema Express (7429/7430) and should run as a full-fledged train.

Mr. Jain said Mumbai-Bijapur Express train should to be extended up to Hospet. The train should be made a daily train instead of running it only four days a week.

He said a push-pull train should be introduced between Guntakal and Hospet as track doubling work was over.
