Focus on harnessing intelligence of the student In vogue in 50 schools across the country Kakinada: As part of its efforts to give a new dimension to teaching-learning relationship in schools, IDiscoveri, a social enterprise formed by more than 100 professionals drawn from institutions like the Harvard and Cambridge, organized an `XSEED’ seminar on `Making Your Good School Great’ here on Thursday. The focus was on how to build strong fundamentals and harness the `multiple intelligences’ children possess to enable them to learn which makes classroom and outdoor teaching purposeful. Ways to make the teachers effective communicators was the other equally important issue dwelt upon in detail by the resource persons Himanshu Joshi and Shiladitya Ghosh. Addressing principals and correspondents of some 10 schools, Mr. Himanshu, IDiscoveri Education Officer (Andhra Pradesh), said XSEED was a revolutionary concept of teaching aimed at strengthening the abilities of children not merely based upon their IQ but eight types of intelligence that dictate the children’s capacities. XSEED programme was in vogue in over 50 schools across the country and abroad and it showed perceptible difference in children’s learning compared to traditional teaching methods. The focus of IDiscoveri was on improving classroom practices which in turn help children learn better. ``XSEED is a comprehensive platform for student curriculum, assessment, teacher education and instructional leadership. It also aims at developing creative expression of children through various literary and artistic activities, Mr. Joshi summed up the mission of iDiscoveri which played leadership roles in corporate workplaces like Procter and Gamble and Boston Consulting Group.
