THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of the efforts to prevent dengue fever outbreak in the coastal areas of the city, a 24-hour dengue fever control cell would be set up at the Vizhinjam Kottapuram sub-centre, District Medical Officer (DMO) N. Sreedhar said in a statement here on Thursday. This was decided at a meeting convened by the DMO at the Kottapuram Parish hall. Vizhinjam panchayat president Latha Sugathan and parish vicar George were also present at the meeting. The control cell will be headed by a health inspector and a lady health inspector who can be contacted at Ph: 9447428079 and 9746457599 respectively. The meeting decided to conduct a speciality medical camp in Vizhinjam panchayat led by experts from the Medical College Hospital and the General Hospital on Saturday. Fogging, spraying and awareness classes on source reduction would be held in the panchayat.
