Reception for march in Kalamassery on Monday

KOCHI: The CPI (M)’s Nava Kerala March entered Ernakulam district on Saturday evening. As the march captain and State Secretary of the CPI (M), Pinarayi Vijayan, was in New Delhi to attend the party’s Polit Bureau meeting, the march that entered Karukutty in the district border was led by party leader E.P. Jayarajan.

After arriving from Delhi at 8.30 p.m., Mr Vijayan addressed the rally at Angamaly. He called for concerted efforts to overcome the ‘propaganda’ that has been unleashed against the party and its leaders.

A number of people’s representatives, heads of civic bodies, party workers and others welcomed the march into the district. On Sunday morning, a reception will be accorded to the march at Paravur and it will proceed to Cherai, Fort Kochi, Thripunithura, Trikkakkara and the Rajendra Maidan.

The rallyists will be given a reception at HMT Junction, Kalamassery on Monday, following which it will proceed to Aluva, Perumbavoor, Kunnathunad, Piravom and Muvattupuzha. On Tuesday morning, the march’s journey through the district will conclude at Kothamangalam and move over to Idukki district.

The State-wide rally aims to confront religious fundamentalism and anti-national activities by some forces, says a press release issued here by the party.
