Vidyasagar Rao quotes Fazil Ali Commission that Telangana region should not be merged with A.P. The Commission said separate state should be formed if two-thirds of MLAs demand the same KARIMNAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader Ch. Vidyasagar Rao has said that constitution of joint House committees to study the Telangana statehood issue is unconstitutional, unethical and against all democratic norms of the Indian parliamentary system. Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, he said that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy had announced formation of joint House committees without referring to its terms of references. He alleged that the Chief Minister was insulting the aspirations of Telangana people with the constitution of joint House committees. He said that the Fazil Ali Commission in 1956 had given a clear report that the Telangana region should not be merged with the Andhra Pradesh as the Andhra region might steal away the resources from Telangana and both have different cultural identity. He also said that Fazal Ali Commission had stated in 1961 that if two-third legislators of the Telangana region demanded separate statehood, than it should be formed immediately. The BJP leader called upon the Telangana parties to reject the grand alliance, which was anti-Telangana, and reiterated that the Telangana state would be a reality within 100 days of BJP attaining power at the Centre.
