7.7 p.c. growth rate likely for Himachal

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh is likely to achieve a growth rate of 7.7 per cent for the current financial year against the expected growth of 7.1 percent at the national level according to the recent economic survey report presented in Vidhan Sabha over the weekend here. The per capita income is estimated at Rs 44,803 for the year 2008-09.

The Gross State Domestic Product on current prices in 2007-08 increased to Rs 32,220 crore from 28,603 crore in 2006-07 and as per advanced estimates it is likely to be about Rs 36,940 crore in 2008-09.

The State economy achieved a growth rate of 8.6 percent in 2007-08. The per capita income increased to Rs 40,134 in 2007-08 from Rs 36,781 in 2006-07.
