PATHANAMTHITTA: The two-day national meet on Basava dharma came to a close at the Public Stadium in Thiruvalla on Sunday. Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Veeranna Mathikkatti inaugurated the valedictory meet. Mr. Mathikkatti stressed the need to spread the philosophy of Basaveshwara across the country and follow his principles for a harmony in social life. Sivamurthi Murukarajendra Saranaru, spiritual leader of the Veera Shaiva community, presided over the inaugural function. Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy, All-India Veera Shaiva Sabha State president T.P. Kunjumon, founder director of Veera Saiva International, Pune, Omprakash Dadappa, critic M.M. Basheer, Akhila-Kerala Cheramar Hindu Sabha president V.R. Raju, Vinod Kannankara and K. Prasannakumar, organising committee general convenor, also spoke. Public Works Minister Mons Joseph inaugurated a seminar on social justice held in the forenoon. The meet was jointly organised by Chitradurga-based Basava Kendra, the (AIVSS) and the Basava Samiti.
