NEW DELHI: A unique and rare English literary work on Narasimha Avatar, brought out by Vishnu Sahasranama Satsangam, Ramakrishnapuram, to coincide with its 41st anniversary celebrations, was released here over the weekend by Dr. V.R. Panchamukhi, Chancellor, Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeta, Tirupati. The book titled “`Nrisimham Namaamyaham’ is an analytical study of the manifestation of the Lord in man-lion form, written by Dr. N. Jagannathan, a Sanskrit scholar. According to the author “it is no exaggeration to state that in no other avatara, the Bhagavan brings out His transcendence and immanence, His power and majesty, His readiness to protect and vaathsalya as Narasima avatara does.” Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Panchamukhi said our Vedas had survived all these years despite materialistic onslaughts and degradation and particularly when our thoughts were being corrupted from all sides and society was facing chaos and contradictions. He lauded the efforts of the Sat Sangam for bringing out this unique Sanskrit literature in English for the benefit of everyone and propagating the message of Vishnu Sahasranamam. Former Attorney General K. Parasaran and senior advocate who received the first copy of the book from Dr. Panchamukhi said the greatness of Narasimha avatara was that the Lord took this avatar in a spur of moment for the sake of the love exhibited by one child Prahalad. The devotion of the child and the Lord’s immediate response had been succinctly presented in this avatar. The manifestation of the God in different forms was reflected in the chanting of 1008 namas of Vishnu Sahasranamam, he said. He distributed prizes to winners of Vishnu Sahasranama recitation competitions conducted for school children in the capital. The Trustee, T. Subramanian, explained the activities of the Satsangam formed in 1968 with the sole objective of bringing devotees together for group recitation of Vishnu Sahasranamam on Sundays and every year the Satsangam was bringing out rare books written by eminent scholars. Earlier O.V. Ramani and party sung devotional songs. This was followed by recitation of four Vedas by eminent Vedic scholars.
