Solve traffic problem

Alternative transportation methods are necessary to solve the traffic problem in the city. In Bombay, 50 per cent of the commuters travel by local trains, and in Chennai local trains cater to the needs of people living in sub-urban areas.

Similarly, it is the Metro that helped the people in Kolkata and Delhi. Similarly, local trains could be planned in the city from Kondapalli industrial estate to Autonagar industrial estate or Ramavarappadu. The local trains also help the people from places like Gudivada and other villages to transport their produce, which are economical, compared to other modes of transportation. However, the city has only one railway station, which is always busy with express and other trains. Hence, there is a need for another railway station and local trains.

Revision of retirement age

It is improper on the part of the State government to contemplate revision of retirement age with the elections round the corner. The ruling Congress party seems to be in a great hurry to woo the people and offer sops to every section of the society. It is not wrong in helping the lower sections with sops, but revision of retirement age is not justifiable under any conditions. We have a surfeit of political parties promising everything and anything on the earth to the voters. Already the State government had incurred a lot of debt because of which cost of living will continue to increase. The government should act judiciously in the interest of State.

Remove corrupt officials

It has become routine to see a government employee being nabbed red handed by sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). But, none of the tainted officials have been convicted in a court of law though they were accused in corruption cases amounting to crores of rupees. The tainted engineer in Fisheries Department was caught red handed by ACB officials with crores of rupees. It indicates, how deep rooted corruption is. The corrupt officials should be removed from services. D. Janaki,

BJP’s poll plank

It is unfortunate that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to champion the Ram Janmabhoomi issue once again. The BJP is apparently making plans to make it the plank of general elections. BJP senior leader L.K. Advani’s declaration that a temple would be built at Ayodhya will reopen the old wounds. Elections should be contested on issues such as price rise, inflation, health care, and welfare reforms. With the BJP renewing the Jai Sri Ram slogan, the future of common man is at stake.

Ram temple issue

In these troubled times when religious fundamentalism is on the rise, the BJP calling for building of Ram temple at Ayodhya will only make the matters worse. The Ram Mantra will only encourage the jihadi elections to carry out their evil designs. BJP’s return to Ayodhya issue is aimed at coming back to power at any cost. I. Dharmamurthi Rao,
